Onzen Eggs Limited Edition Tray Bag

We’re excited to introduce our special collaboration with PPOC Rumah Insaniah.

Presenting our hand-made Egg Tray Bag, designed to hold up to 2 trays of eggs and it is perfect for carrying your Onzen Eggs home safely.

What makes this bag extra special is that it is handcrafted by the residents of Rumah Insaniah, a community of persons with disabilities who are given opportunities to learn skills and earn an income.

To support this initiative as part of our CSR effort, we will be offering this bag at a special price of RM5 until the end of April (limited pieces available). During this period, we will absorb the production cost to help kickstart this collaboration.

Starting May onwards:

RM15 (Purchase With Purchase) – with 2/3 of the payment going directly to Rumah Insaniah

RM20 normal price

By purchasing this bag, you’re not just getting a practical egg tray carrier, you’re also supporting meaningful work and empowering the community.

More Than Just a Visit

What if a simple task could give someone dignity, purpose, and a chance to earn?

That’s exactly what we witnessed during our recent visit to Rumah Insaniah.

Recently, we had the chance to visit PPOC Rumah Insaniah in Petaling Jaya and the experience truly left an impression on us.

Over the past 7 years, supporting the community has always been something close to our hearts. Along the way, we’ve been grateful to collaborate with organisations like Rainbow Bridge, Rumah Titian Kasih and The Lost Food Project.

Recently, we started thinking about working with another NGO. With a limited budget, we were searching for a place where we could still make a meaningful impact and that’s how we discovered Rumah Insaniah.

When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by En Alif and Kak Yati. Despite being located near the busy highway, the home felt calm, humble and full of warmth.

One thing that immediately caught our attention was the beautiful handmade items displayed around the space. Under the creative guidance of Kak Yati, the residents make many fabric products, from lanyards and coin purses to wallets, bucket bags, laptop bags, baju kurung and shopping bags. And the most amazing part? These are all carefully made by persons with disabilities.

Rumah Insaniah is also a place that encourages independence. Residents with physical disabilities can stay there for only RM150 a month, including daily meals, something that’s truly rare in the middle of the city. Many choose to work outside, while others work within the Rumah Insaniah community or with companies operating nearby.

For residents with learning disabilities who may struggle with basic 3M skills (reading, writing, and counting), Rumah Insaniah still provides opportunities for them to earn some pocket money. We were especially grateful to learn that several companies collaborate with the home by providing small projects that residents can work on.

During our visit, there was an ongoing project from a well-known cultured milk drink company. The residents were tasked with inserting straws into plastic packaging. While this task could easily be completed by machines, the company chose to partner with Rumah Insaniah instead by giving the residents a chance to contribute and earn.

Seeing this reminded us that sometimes small opportunities can make a big difference.

In our next post, we’ll share how we eventually decided on a collaboration project with Rumah Insaniah. Stay tuned!

Made With Hands, Carried With Hearts

From our very first visit, witnessing the residents’ dedication and the supervisors’ efforts in helping them earn some pocket money truly moved us. It reassured us that collaborating with Rumah Insaniah was something meaningful we wanted to pursue.

As we explored their space, we saw a beautiful variety of fabric handicrafts made by the residents; persons with disabilities who put great care into each piece. That inspired us to create something using fabric too, something familiar to them, so the process would feel natural and accessible.

We started brainstorming. A pouch bag? Too common. A coin purse? With everyone going cashless, maybe not so practical. A shopping bag? Let’s be honest…we all already have plenty at home.

Then it clicked, an egg tray bag! Something uniquely tied to Onzen Eggs, especially for customers who frequently pick up from our premises.

We shared our vision with Kak Yati, and with her incredible skills, the first samples were ready within just a few days. When we returned to Rumah Insaniah to finalise the design, Kak Yati shared more about the residents and gave us a tour of the premises.

What touched us most was how each bag is made. The process is thoughtfully divided based on each individual’s abilities. One person may focus on making the handles, another on sewing the sides, while others attach the brand tag or handle the ironing. This isn’t about speed, it’s about inclusion.

It means that more than three individuals come together to complete a single bag. And that, to us, is truly beautiful. It’s teamwork in its purest form. Allowing more people to contribute, participate, and earn.

As we continued the tour, we saw separate living spaces for men and women, with the ground floor dedicated to those with physical disabilities for easier mobility. The environment was clean, calm, and harmonious. We visited their café, workspaces, gym, and even a kindergarten for children with learning disabilities.

Watching the children learn, play, and smile under the care of dedicated teachers was heartwarming. Moments like these remind us how meaningful spaces like Rumah Insaniah truly are.

Back to the egg tay bag. We’re excited to finally launch these specially made tray bags and it is available in limited quantities.

Have you gotten yours yet? You can purchase them on our website! Not only are they perfect for carrying your egg trays, but they’re also versatile enough for everyday use. Practical, meaningful, and made with love 💛

If you’ve already purchased one, thank you. Your support goes a long way, two-thirds of the proceeds go directly to PPOC Rumah Insaniah, helping support their residents and ongoing efforts.

We’re truly grateful and look forward to collaborating with more NGOs in the future.

Together, we can make a difference.
